It will be recalled that Abati, a newspaper columnist and former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity had in his column penultimate week chronicled a history of several misfortunes in the villa and concluded that ghosts not only inhabited the place but were also responsible for many problems in the place.
He alluded the outbreak of some misfortunes to some spiritual manipulation and posited that many men who worked in the Villa usual had flaccidity of their male genitals while in the villa but only to get better upon their exit letter.
Abati who painted a gory picture of evil sacrifices, incantation and concoction stated that for the years he lived and served his principal, he never slept for one hour in his official residence and literally thanked God that he made it out of the place alive.
But in the view of the presidency and some officials who would prefer their names be left out, Abati who decried the demonic situation in the villa must have written his piece from his own perspective.
They however found it ridiculous and ironical that Abati who appeared in a hurry to leave villa was also at a time pushing so hard for his boss to win reelection.
Speaking to Saturday Vanguard, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari and Abati’s
successor, Mr. Femi Adesina stated that Abati wrote from his own perspective.
He said: “It was an opinion piece and he has a right to it. It’s his opinion and he has a right to it. But because it is his opinion does not make it the gospel truth. He wrote from his own perspective.
“It depends on who you are. If you are the superstitious type, you will always source whatever happens to you to certain spiritual influences. I wouldn’t call myself superstitious but I also know that, yes, there are evil influences but then, not everybody is susceptible to evil influences. I believe that your relationship with God goes a long way to determine the kind of influences you can be susceptible to.
“So, for me, that’s not something I bother myself about. Anyone who has an opinion is entitled to it and your opinions come from experiences you have had.”
Craving anonymity, two other officials who worked under Abati derided the write-up.
One of the them put back the question to Vanguard, asking if we ever experienced a ghost in the villa.
“Have you seen any ghost since your posting to the Villa? Ignore him. What you have to know is that it takes a superstitious person to put out such opinion. Yes, there are forces everywhere, even in the rural communities, villages, no doubt. But why should that be my problem as a child of God? Don’t people die everywhere? I think our belief system determines the functionality of our faith.
“This is a man who spent four years in the same villa and even wanted to stay more if he had been given the opportunity. Ask him, if that was why he married a new wife when he came to Abuja”, he intoned.
The second person also submitted:
“Talking about misfortune, I really don’t know where they have occurred in the villa. The only known case was that of former First Lady, Patience Jonathan who said she became well after they conceded defeat. It’s no news that former president Obasanjo lost his wife, Stella while in the villa. But death is everywhere. But what can anyone say of IBB whose last daughter was born in the villa? Did anything happen to them while in the Villa?
“You see, it is possible that anyone who thinks superstition, believes in it, lives it. I know that there are forces but saying that the misfortunes people suffer happen as a result of their going to the villa may be out of place.
“As per the death of some people’s groin, that is unknown. No one has ever reported that unless the writer is suffering from that. But they wouldn’t tell anyone”, he said.
