BUT ONE THING IS NEEDFUL.
Knowing the significance in everything we do is very important. What controls you---Earthly Desires or Heavenly ones? We must be careful about what we desire.
However, setting goals right is one test that is often thrown before us almost everyday of our lives and many times we find ourselves doing things that are of no value to us.
Do you wonder if i mean the steps you took are bad? No. I only wanted you to understand that as a child of God, one has to learn to do the necessary things first.
Life becomes frustrating when you miss the right steps. The word of God was well reckoned to present the reader a clear message that would help them learn to value His word more than anything. Martha for instance, was so busy preparing food that she missed the teaching of Jesus right in her own home.
"Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her"(Luke10:38-42).
It is so easy these days to get busy
So many don't know if they are coming or going anymore. As for Mary i believe she did more than just sitting down for Jesus to commend her.
Most times, we found ourselves doing what we feel is right but found ourselves out of place with what the Lord bethink as essential. It is important to keep our priorities strait.
When Nicodemus was trying to understand what the Lord meant by Needful, he went and ask Jesus and "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"(John3:3).
Also, in quest of finding out what the needful thing is the Bible says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"(Matthew6:33).
Beloved, we have an obligation--but it not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, is death but if by the spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live(Romans8:12-13).
Let's understand that the righteousness of the Kingdom of God is our primary assignment on earth. But without being botn again it is impossible to see God. This calls for a life of holiness. Knowing the essence of walking with the Holy Spirit is the needful thing in life. Our life fulfillment is in the Holy Spirit.
If you have not made it right with God, repent and be saved. Jesus loves you!
