WHAT HAPPENS ALONG THE LINE?
It's logical to agree that a person who responds to the call to Salvation and accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour, indeed has the willingness to be called a child of God according to John 1:12.

But what happens along the line? Why are so many believers disconnected from God? When you come to Christ, and remain in Him through faith and obedience, His grace is made sufficient for you.
The things of God become stress-free for you. You exercise God without struggles. More so, the power to walk in peace, love, holiness and without blemish becomes very evident in your life.

Hence, the Bible says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new"(2Corinthians 5:17). But why are many still disconnected from God after accepting Jesus as Lord?

1. Lack of understanding of God's word. So many read the Holy Bible without connecting. They try to read by their understanding. This simply means that alot accept Christ but not ready to let go of their old self, rather they want to fit in their old self in the word of God. When a man gets born of God, old things have passed away, and all things becomes new. Which means you should release yourself, let go of the old and let God be responsible for and dwell in the word of God. For hearing comes by the word of God. Hearing the word of God and Dwelling in it gives perfect understanding.

2. Prayerlessness. You can't run the race with your human understanding. For you to run this spiritual race, you need spiritual fortification. No warrior ever goes to war without getting ready. Spiritual warriors fortify themselves before going to war. Reason Jesus said, "behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high(Luke 24:49). You require power to run the race, and that comes when you learn to tarry. Pray without ceasing. Do not be spiritually lazy. Spiritual laziness brings disconnection between God and man.

3. Failure To know God. When you go through the Bible, what you should first look out for are the principles, which are the commandments and laws of God. How consistent are they? How did God relate His word in the old and Now? That will help you understand and know God. His word is consistent when it comes to talking about how we should live our life. Be holy, our bodies are the temple of God, holiness which without no man shall see God(1Peter 1:15-17, 1Corinthians 6:19, Hebrews 12:14). The consistency in the voice of God help us to know the personality of God. Please keep in mind that He is God and that He change not. His word is settled already. When we fail to know God, it brings disconnection. Let go of what you think is right and let the word of God dwell richly in you.
